Chester A. Whitmore, sometimes referenced as Chester Whitmore or Chester A. Whitmore Sr., is a professional swing dancer, tap dancer, performer, choreographer, actor, stuntman, composer, drummer and bandleader.[1]. He started dancing in 1974 and was mentored among others by Fayard Nicholas from the Nicholas Brothers.
Dance
[edit]He attends many festivals as a guest of honor and teacher, like Herräng Dance Camp[2], Savoy Cup[3] or Jazz Roots[4].
He is the choreographer of some music videos of "Weird Al" Yankovich[5] and Michael Jackson. For the latter, for example, he participated with Vince Paterson in the development of the dance in Smooth Criminal[6], in particular for the iconic leaning move that takes inspiration from black dancers like in Ali Baba Goes To Town (1937)[7]
