Brian Poindexter (born August 4, 1979) is an American politician from Ohio.
Poindexter was born on August 4, 1979,[1] in Cleveland. He was one of six children. He became an ironworker out of high school. He graduated from Cuyahoga Community College and became a union organizer.[2]
He has served on the city council of Brook Park, Ohio, for five terms,[2] since 2017. In January 2026, he announced his candidacy for the Democratic Party nomination for the U.S. House of Representatives for Ohio's 7th congressional district.[3] He won the nomination in the primary election in May with 37% of the vote, while second-place finisher Ed FitzGerald earned 22%.[4]
Poindexter and his now ex-wife had a daughter when he was 22 years old.[1]
