Walid Attar (Arabic: وليد عطار), known professionally as Attar, is an Egyptian singer, composer, songwriter and actor of Moroccan descent through his mother.[1] Billboard Arabia described him as a multi-talented artist who works in singing, composing, acting and dancing.[2] He began his career in 2022 and has released singles and a mini-album. He has also composed songs for other performers, including two on Lebanese singer Nancy Ajram's 2025 album Nancy 11.[3][4]
Early life and education
[edit]Attar studied theatre arts in the acting and directing department. While still a student, he appeared in the television series Rag'een Ya Hawa, which starred Khaled El Nabawy.[2] In a 2023 interview with Youm7, he said he had been singing for about ten years before the release of "Geet".[5]
Career
[edit]2022–2023
[edit]In 2022, Attar performed the song "Khatwa Igbari" with Nour Khaled El Nabawy. It marked the start of his collaboration with the lyricist Mostafa Haddouta and the arranger Ramy El Masry, who also worked on his second song, "Ma'a Hali".[2] Al-Ahram Gate reported in February 2023 that "Khatwa Igbari" was nearing 40 million YouTube views.[6] He told Youm7 that audiences began to know him through this song and then through "Geet".[5] Streaming listings also show a 2022 single, "Sekka Baraka".[7]
In early 2023, Attar released "Geet" ("Ana Geet Akahalha 'Amit"), with lyrics by Haddouta, music by Attar and arrangement by El Masry; its music video was directed by Islam Hisham.[2] He told Youm7 that the song reached fourth place on YouTube's trending list in Egypt.[5] Al-Watan reported in May 2024 that the song's video had received about 12 million views on YouTube.[8]
2023–2024
[edit]Between summer 2023 and summer 2024, Attar began writing the lyrics for some of his own songs, such as "Asadaq Meen (Heta Mayla)" and "Al-Alam Wal-Alam", and worked with several arrangers, including Kolobex, Nader Hamdy, Ahmed Tarek Yehia and Amr El Hakim.[2] He also worked with the lyricist Menna Adly El-Qei'ey on "Albat Ek", the theme song of the series Khaled Nour Wa Waladah Nour Khaled, and on "Taqa Wa Intilaqa", a song from the film El Shamareekh.[2][9] In May 2024, he released "Al-Alam Wal-Alam", which he wrote and composed.[10]
In July 2024, he released "Beteer Fel Hawa", with lyrics by Haddouta, music by Attar and arrangement by Kolobex; its music video features him as a basketball player.[2][11] In September 2024, he released "Basita".[12]
2025
[edit]In April 2025, Attar released a five-track mini-album, Sahbet Nafsi, containing "El Nas Di Ashrar", "Safi", "Sahbet Nafsi", "Enty Magnona" and "Enta Meen". He wrote and composed the songs, and the album was produced by Mazika.[13] In July 2025, he released "Khameera", filmed in Casablanca, and in September 2025 a music video for "Shwaya Shwaya", filmed in Marrakech and described as an Egyptian–Moroccan blend.[14][3]
In August 2025, Attar released "Habibi Batata", a duet with mahraganat singer Fares Sokar and the first collaboration between the two. Attar wrote and composed the song.[15] In October 2025, he released "Mawlood El Layla Di"; Al-Watan reported in November that the song had become a trending topic on social media a month after its release.[16] In November 2025, he released "Nouhli", which he wrote and composed and filmed in Chefchaouen, Morocco.[14]
Attar composed "Sidi Ya Sidi" and "Ya Albo" for Nancy Ajram's album Nancy 11, released in July 2025; both songs have lyrics by Mostafa Haddouta.[4] Al-Bawaba reported that TikTok videos using "Sidi Ya Sidi" had accumulated more than 35 million views, and that Ajram first performed the song on stage at the Carthage International Festival.[17] Ajram released a music video for "Ya Albo" in November 2025; Al-Quds Al-Arabi reported that the song had passed 19 million YouTube views before the video's release.[18]
2026
[edit]In January 2026, Attar released "Ana El Etneen", the promotional song for the film In Ghab El Qett, with lyrics by Mostafa Haddouta and music by Attar.[19] In March 2026, he released "Ana Shab", credited as a song from the series Fakhr El Delta.[20] In April 2026, he released "Sharb El Osool", a duet with mahraganat singer Mostafa Anba and the first collaboration between the two; the song has lyrics by Mostafa Haddouta and music by Attar.[1] He released "Sushi" on 30 April 2026 and "Matcha" on 6 June 2026.[21][22]
