Anu Tomar (born 6 November 1989) is an Indian sport shooter who represents the country in international rifle events. She is a professional athlete and employee of Indian railway Western Railway.

Career

Tomar began her competitive career in the early 2000s in junior categories. In August 2003, she won a bronze medal at the 47th National Shooting Championship in Hyderabad...^[1]. During the same year, she secured a silver medal at the 5th Kumar Surendra Singh (KSS) Memorial in Ahmedabad.

In 2006, she established a championship record at the 7th KSS Memorial in Delhi. In January 2008, at the 51st National Shooting Championship in Ahmedabad, Tomar set a new national record in the 50m rifle event with a score of 574/600^[2]

Internationally, Tomar represented India at the 2007 Asian Shooting Championship in Kuwait, winning a gold medal in the 50m Rifle Prone Team (Junior) event and a silver medal in the 50m Rifle 3 Positions Team (Junior) event ^[3]. She also participated in the 2012 Asian Shooting Championship in Doha, Qatar.

In 2014, she secured medals in both individual and team categories at the Indo-Bhutan Shooting Championship in Thimphu. In 2015, she won a gold medal in the 50m Rifle Prone Team event at the National Games of India in Kerala^[4]

Records and achievements

National Rifle Association of India (NRAI) records indicate that Tomar has won a total of 7 international medals and 44 medals at national and state levels. Her career is further documented by the International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF)^[5]
