Bianor compactus is a species of jumping spider that is endemic to New Zealand.
Taxonomy
[edit]This species was described as Salticus compactus in 1885 by Arthur Urquhart from female specimens.[1] It has been revised numerous times.[2][3][4]
Description
[edit]The female is recorded at 4mm in length.[4]
Distribution
[edit]This species is known from Nelson and Lake Tekapo in New Zealand, but is probably widespread.
Conservation status
[edit]Under the New Zealand Threat Classification System, this species is listed as "Not Threatened" with the qualifier of "Sparse".[5]
