atNorth is a Nordic data center company headquartered in Reykjavík, Iceland. Founded in 2009, it develops and operates data center facilities for enterprise, cloud and compute-intensive workloads.[1]
The company has operational facilities in Iceland, Sweden, Finland and Denmark, and is developing additional sites in those countries and Norway. Its services include high-density colocation, dedicated data halls, build-to-suit developments and network connectivity.[2][3]
The company's portfolio comprises metro facilities near major population and connectivity centers and larger campuses intended for high-density and large-scale deployments. Thirteen locations, both operational and planned across Iceland, Sweden, Finland, Denmark and Norway are listed on the company's website.[3]
History
[edit]atNorth was founded in Iceland in 2009 and initially developed data center infrastructure in Iceland. It subsequently expanded into Sweden and Finland, establishing a broader Nordic operating footprint during the 2020s.[1][2]
The company later began developing facilities in Denmark, additional campuses in Finland and Sweden, and a large-scale site in Norway. Data Center Dynamics reported in 2026 that atNorth operated seven data centers in Iceland, Sweden and Finland, with further facilities under development in Finland, Denmark, Sweden and Norway.[4]
Operations
[edit]atNorth provides colocation and related data center infrastructure services. The company also develops build-to-suit data centers based on the power, cooling, space and operational requirements of individual customers.[5]
The company's facilities accommodate enterprise IT, cloud computing, artificial intelligence and other high-density workloads. Some sites support direct liquid cooling, in which liquid is used to remove heat from computing equipment with higher rack power densities.[6][7]
AI infrastructure
[edit]atNorth develops data center environments for artificial intelligence workloads. These workloads can require higher power densities and different cooling systems than conventional enterprise computing.[6]
In May 2026, Reuters reported that the Swedish subsidiary of energy company E.ON had signed a 200 MW grid connection agreement for an atNorth AI data center in northern Sweden. The connection is associated with the company's planned campus in Sollefteå.[6]
Colocation
[edit]The company offers colocation through individual racks, cages, private data halls and larger dedicated deployments. Colocation customers retain control of their computing equipment while the operator provides physical space, electrical power, cooling, security and connectivity.[5]
atNorth distinguishes between metro sites, which are located near urban connectivity centers, and larger campuses designed for customers requiring more space and electrical capacity. This classification is used throughout its Nordic site portfolio.[3]
Build-to-suit
[edit]atNorth develops build-to-suit facilities for customers requiring dedicated data center capacity. Such projects may include customer-specific building layouts, electrical systems, cooling infrastructure and deployment schedules.[8]
The company's Myllykoski development in Finland and Varde development in Denmark are intended to accommodate both colocation and dedicated large-scale deployments.[8][9]

Iceland
[edit]atNorth lists three Icelandic facilities: ICE01 in Reykjavík, ICE02 in Keflavík and ICE03 in Akureyri. ICE01 is classified as a metro site, while the Keflavík and Akureyri campuses are classified as mega sites.[10]
The Akureyri campus is designed for high-density workloads and uses electricity from renewable sources. Iceland's climate also allows data center operators to use outside air for cooling during much of the year, reducing reliance on mechanical refrigeration.[11]
Sweden
[edit]The company's Swedish portfolio consists of SWE01 and SWE02 in Stockholm and SWE04 in Sollefteå. SWE01 is an operational facility in Kista, Stockholm. Data Center Dynamics reported that the site opened in 2022 and provides 12 MW of capacity across approximately 6,400 square metres.[12]
SWE02 is a planned 30 MW metro facility in Akalla, near SWE01. The company has scheduled it to begin operating in the fourth quarter of 2027.[13]
SWE04 is a large-scale development in Sollefteå in northern Sweden. In 2026, E.ON's Swedish distribution subsidiary agreed to provide a 200 MW grid connection for the project, which is intended to support AI computing infrastructure.[6]
Finland
[edit]atNorth lists four Finnish sites: FIN01, FIN02 and FIN03 in the Helsinki metropolitan area, and FIN04 in Myllykoski, Kouvola. The company states that two Finnish facilities are operational and two are under development.[14]
FIN04 is being developed on a former industrial site in Myllykoski. Data Center Dynamics reported in February 2026 that construction had begun in 2024 and that the first building was expected to enter service in 2027, although the company's published schedule gave an earlier target.[15]
Denmark
[edit]The company lists two Danish sites: DEN01, a metro facility in the Copenhagen area, and DEN02, a larger campus in Varde Municipality. DEN01 supports conventional air-cooled equipment and direct liquid cooling for higher-density deployments.[16][7]
DEN02 is under development near Ølgod in Varde Municipality. The campus is intended for colocation and dedicated large-scale capacity.[9]
Norway
[edit]NOR01 is a planned data center campus at Haugaland Business Park in Tysvær Municipality. Data Center Dynamics reported that the development is planned to begin with 120 MW of capacity and may expand to 350 MW.[4]
The Norway project represents atNorth's first data center development in the country and extends its development portfolio across all five Nordic countries.[17]
