Aminicella is a monotypic genus of Gram-positive, strictly anaerobic bacteria in the family Anaerovoracaceae. Its only validly published species is Aminicella lysinilytica.[1]
Cells of A. lysinilytica are non-motile, non-spore-forming rods. The type strain, WN037T (= JCM 19863T = DSM 28287T), was isolated from a methanogenic reactor treating cattle waste. It is asaccharolytic and ferments L-lysine in the presence of a B-vitamin mixture or vitamin B12, producing acetate and butyrate.[2]
