McAfee tracker remover and Wikipedia password (today only)

[edit]

After McAfee security software app updated itself today, I ran the usual (routine) tracker remover. It wiped out my stored Wikipedia password on Firefox. It was easy to get it back up, but I'm wondering if there was a Firefox-Wikimedia-McAfee snafu there. Didn't seem to affect any non-Wikipedia stored passwords I had. — Maile (talk) 02:57, 7 July 2023 (UTC)reply

McAfee must have had a lot of complaints. They fixed the issue overnight. — Maile (talk) 19:37, 7 July 2023 (UTC)reply
Tinfoil hat on What if McAfee was unhappy about their Wikipedia article, so they tried to get as many people as possible locked out and when they were done making their changes they "fixed the issue"? tinfoil hat off[Humor] -- Random person no 362478479 (talk) 19:22, 8 July 2023 (UTC)reply
