Wikipedia:Requests for page protection

Welcome—request protection of a page, file, or template here.

Before requesting, read the protection policy. Full protection is used to stop edit warring between multiple users or to prevent vandalism to high-risk templates; semi-protection and pending changes are usually used to prevent IP and new user vandalism (see the rough guide to semi-protection); and move protection is used to stop pagemove revert wars. Extended confirmed protection is used where semi-protection has proved insufficient (see the rough guide to extended confirmed protection).

After a page has been protected, it is listed in the page history and logs with a short rationale, and the article is listed on Special:ProtectedPages. In the case of full protection due to edit warring, admins should not revert to specific versions of the page, except to remove obvious vandalism.

Request addition of protection to a page, or increasing the current protection level

Request removal of protection from a page, or reducing the current protection level

Request a specific edit be made to a protected page

Request the non-urgent protection of multiple pages that do not require immediate administrator attention

Current requests for increase in protection level

Request addition of protection to a page, or increasing the current protection level

Place requests for protection increases at the BOTTOM of this section. If you cannot find your request, check the archive of requests or the page history. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

Reason: to be monitored by City of Dreams Manila's Resort Marketing and Branding Team. RottenTomatoPH (talk) 03:57, 13 August 2026 (UTC)reply

I see no reason to protect this page. And of course the "Marketing and Branding Team" should not edit the page at all. See WP:COI, WP:PAID etc. — Chrisahn (talk) 16:35, 13 August 2026 (UTC)reply

Indefinite pending changes: Persistent addition of unsourced or poorly sourced content – Persistent addition of unsourced contents by train fans. Please see the history. Thank you. Seloloving (talk) 06:29, 13 August 2026 (UTC)reply

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent sockpuppetry – TAs repeatedly restoring a version by blocked sockmaster User:Əzərbəyəniləri, with a variety of rationales and questions about it. Belbury (talk) 12:52, 13 August 2026 (UTC)reply

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent sockpuppetry – Repeated User:RedJake711 socking on an otherwise low traffic article. Belbury (talk) 13:15, 13 August 2026 (UTC)reply

Indefinite extended confirmed protection: Arbitration enforcement – Page falls under WP:CT/SA/SG and has a talk page notice to that effect. Feel free to decline this request if I'm incorrect, but my reading is that this does fall under SASG. gurkubondinn 13:21, 13 August 2026 (UTC)reply

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – Persistent vandalism by temp account since 22:47, 31 July 2026. Alith Anar 14:37, 13 August 2026 (UTC)reply

Semi-protection: Persistent disruptive editing – Repeated peacocking from a pair of IPs.   Skywatcher68 (talk) 14:59, 13 August 2026 (UTC)reply

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – TAs repeatedly pushing Lamar Advertising Company as a close competitor, or framing them as part of a "big three". Belbury (talk) 15:14, 13 August 2026 (UTC)reply

Reason: This is a BLP; the subject has never been a Canadian citizen, which is well sourced in the "personal life" section; and a hidden note had already been added right after the descriptor in lead sentence; yet IPs and TAs have repeatedly added "Canadian" to the lead sentence. Requesting pending changes protection. Thanks in advance, Thedarkknightli (talk) 15:30, 13 August 2026 (UTC)reply

Temporary extended confirmed protection: Persistent addition of unsourced content breaching WP:NOTNEWS. Danners430 tweaks made 16:54, 13 August 2026 (UTC)reply

Reason: An LTA (Jocer Blandino) has resumed removing the redirect and disrupting the page just a few days after its year-long protection expired. ProClasher97 ~ Have A Question? 17:14, 13 August 2026 (UTC)reply

Indefinite semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – Long history of Sockpuppetry edits. TA editors have been specifically disruptive lately repeatedly reinstating faulty syntax despite multiple warnings. Zinnober9 (talk) 17:16, 13 August 2026 (UTC)reply

Reason: One user is adding information from a bad source, that when you click on it, you can't find any information. The source says its most recent data was gathered between 2017 and 2022. Why someone wants to add this source "World Values Survey" to 50 countries in 2026, who could say? This page needs to be protected. And use agreed upon sources. This page is being vandalized by this user: Rolluik ~2026-38700-78 (talk) 17:25, 13 August 2026 (UTC)reply

Reason: Despite the fact that this is a BLP, the RfC consensus, and the hidden notes, people have repeatedly tweaked the descriptor in the lead sentence and/or the short description without new consensus. Requesting pending changes protection. Thanks in advance, Thedarkknightli (talk) 17:25, 13 August 2026 (UTC)reply

Temporary pending changes: BLP policy violations – Unwatched page and kind of controversial figure in Mexico. The person behind ~2026-39123-31 (talk · contribs) (and related accounts) has a long history (see this link is an example) of violating the UNDUE weight policies on content related to living people (Ricardo the Scoundrel). Alternatively, a rangeblock might be better. Tbhotch (CC BY-SA 4.0) 19:10, 13 August 2026 (UTC)reply

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – Several account-to-account-hopping Temporary Accounts just adding garbage to the page. SimpleObjects-9ei 🏖️/☀️/🥵 (see talk) 19:28, 13 August 2026 (UTC)reply

I request the following sentence be removed from the lead's 2nd paragraph:

"and subsequently annexing the Strait of Hormuz"

This sentence was recently added but is completely unsourced, not in the body, and POV pushing. Although Iran has claimed sovereignty over the strait, there are no sources claiming that it has actually successfully annexed it during the ongoing war or even attempted officially to do so. The linked page on sovereignty in the text which is a new page created by the same user also doesn't even support this wording of annexation. Current talks between Iran and Oman are about shared administration as well, not annexation. ~2026-43592-81 (talk) 07:20, 7 August 2026 (UTC)reply

The article lists under US casualties that there have been "42 aircraft lost", which is inaccurate as the sourced article states "42 aircraft lost or damaged", as it mentions examples such as an F-35 being damaged by missile fire, but surviving.

"42 aircraft lost" should be simply changed to "42 aircraft lost or damaged" Emkut7 (talk) 22:06, 10 August 2026 (UTC)reply
