Wikipedia:IPCC citation/SR

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

ʅ

The IPCC has produced various Special Reports. The style of citation developed for the IPCC Assessment Review reports is here extended to the following Special Reports to provide a uniform style of citation across all IPCC reports. Filled-in templates for the recommended full citations, along with the corresponding in-line citations, can be found below.

As illustrated in the adjoining diagram, citation of these reports is done in three layers:

1) A full citation for the Report. (Only one needed for each article.)
2) A citation for each Chapter (or Annex) cited.
3) Citation of each chapter (annex) in the text (or a note in the text) as often as needed with an in-line short-cite (Harvnb template) as provided for that chapter, adding the page and section numbers of the cited material as appropriate.

The Report and Chapter citations are best placed in a "Sources" or "References" section. Alternately (but not allowed in Global warming and possibly other articles) they can be placed in notes (between <ref>...</ref> tags). These citations (and any note containing them) should not be duplicated within a given article. If a Report or Chapter citation is already present in an article, but short-cite does not link to the Chapter citation, or the Chapter citation to the Report citation, check that they have a |ref= parameter with a value corresponding to the version found here.

The displayed result of these templates can be reviewed at the test page. Actual usage can be seen at Global warming#IPCC reports.

For assistance or additional templates please inquire at WT:IPCC citation.

Special Report: Global Warming of 1.5°C (SR15)

[edit]

CAUTION: The chapters of this report exist in somewhat variant forms at various places in the www.ipcc.ch domain (and elsewhere). It is recommended that only the documents found at the URLs listed here be used for citation. If it is necessary to cite a document with a different URL (perhaps because of differing content?) that URL should be specified in a comment. Note also that some of these documents are available in "Low_Res" and "High_Res" forms.

Reminder: for each Special Report cited you need (if not already present) 1) a full citation for the Report, and 2) a citation for each Chapter cited.

Revised 2020-03-12 to update URLs where URLS and/or documents have been revised.

Special Report: Climate Change and Land (SRCCL)

[edit]

These citations are to the "FINAL" version of this report as released December 2019, available at https://www.ipcc.ch/srccl/. The pdf files of this release have an internal creation date of 2019-11-28. These citations have been updated with the revised editor and author lists, and page ranges; they will be updated again when the ISBN and DOIs are released. This version is displayed here.

All instances of "IPCC SRCCL DRAFT" citations in article space should replaced in their entirety with these citations, as follows:

  1. For each DRAFT citation add the new citation from below (they co-exist).
  2. In all short-cites (Harvnb templates) change "IPCC SRCCL DRAFT" to "IPCC SRCCL". (This can be done using the wikieditor's search-and-replace function; click on the magnifying glass at the top right corner of the edit window.)
  3. Remove the "DRAFT" full citations.

Please verify the cited content against the source (it might have changed in the final version) and add the page number(s) to the short-cite. Because some chapters have more than one version it is recommended to cite both page number and section number/title. E.g.: {{Harvnb|IPCC SRCCL Ch2|2019|p=83}}, Box 1.1.

Please leave a comment at WT:IPCC citation if you find any errors or problems, or need assistance.

Reminder: for each Special Report cited you need (if not already present) 1) a full citation for the Report, and 2) a citation for each Chapter cited.
