The Graphics Lab is a project to improve the graphical content of the Wikimedia projects. Requests for image improvements can be added to the workshop pages: Illustrations, Photographs and Maps. For questions or suggestions one can use the talk pages: Talk:Graphics Lab, Talk:Illustrations, Talk:Photographs and Talk:Maps. This specific page is the requests page for the Map workshop. Anyone can make a request for a map to be created or improved for a Wikipedia article. The standard format for making a request is shown below, along with general advice, and should be followed. Many maps on the web are in the public domain. See c:Template:PD-map; no need to create another free map here if it already exists on the web. See this Casebook to see what maps qualify as public domain.
You are encouraged to share information and request advice from others. Also see possible conventions toolbox, map tutorials and topographic map tutorials.

Direct collaboration: Some mapmakers are especially interested by one topic area. If you notice a mapmaker fitting your needs, consider asking on their personal talk page to request maps.

This map in the Wikibox for the First Turkic Khaganate depicts the central Asian steppe circa 576 CE. On its left side it contains a link that is incorrectly named "Avar Khaganate" - a misspelling of Avar Khanate which was a specific Avar polity that postdates the map by ~700 years. The link correctly directs to the Pannonian Avars page, which covers the relevant timeframe of the map. The link should say "Pannonian Avars" and not "Avar Khaganate". Please make this minor change! Thank you!

The map (File:Jingnan Campaign (English).svg) is very confusing, to the point of being almost unusable. It contains so much detail that readers can hardly make out what is happening. In addition, its heavy reliance on color-coding raises accessibility concerns and may not comply with MOS:COLOR. I strongly suggest seeking assistance to create a clearer and more reader-friendly replacement.

I am currently working on improving the Hongwu Emperor article for Featured Article standards and would appreciate assistance with several historical maps related to Zhu Yuanzhang's rise to power and the founding of the Ming dynasty.
A reviewer suggested that the article would benefit from maps that are closely integrated with the narrative and directly illustrate the major events discussed in the text.
Possible maps include:
The expansion of Zhu Yuanzhang's power from his joining of the Red Turban movement in 1352 to his victory at Lake Poyang in 1363.
The political and military situation in southern China during the conflicts between Zhu Yuanzhang, Chen Youliang, and Zhang Shicheng.
The Ming conquest of Yuan China (1367–1368), showing the routes of the Northern Expedition and major cities captured.
Campaigns against remaining Yuan forces after 1368, if feasible.
Ideally, the maps would be suitable for use in a Featured Article and use historical place names where appropriate.

Hi everyone!
I am sorry that I can't make it my self, but I would need a hemispheric orthographic map centered on the coordinates of The Blue Marble, to be used as a clear view of the land imaged in the photo.
I laid the image over the Blue Marble photo and I seem to have not set it sufficiently right, so that there are significant distortions. Dont know what can be done, I guess I would need your help on this afterall.

Hello, could I please get a species distribution map of Austrovenus stutchburyi for its article? For context, I am working on getting this article ready for Featured Article candidacy. I attempted to make a distribution map of my own, but it is not of a good enough quality (at least not for a Featured Article). I'm largely following the distribution described on page 281 here, but in brief the species is found all along the coast in New Zealand. It's widespread throughout the North Island, South Island, Stewart Island and also the far away Chatham Islands (to the east) and subantarctic Auckland Islands to the south. A reviewer also noted that it might be a good idea to name these islands in the map. I would be extremely grateful for a map of this distribution! Could someone please make a map of Southern Mexico with expanded boundaries. There is already one with South-3, which I am using right now. However, Southern Mexico does not have fixed definitions. South-6 is the next most common definition, which contains South-3, Puebla, Veracruz, and Michoacán. Further, Tabasco and the states on the Yucatán Peninsula are occasionally included. At the very least, there should be a distinction between South-3 and the rest but if you could make each group separate, that would be great as well.✶Quxyz✶ (talk) 15:07, 7 July 2026 (UTC)Reply

Encountered unexpected-eof-in-rule on line 143 column 4 of <style>" error was caused by the presence of a */ end of block comment tag on line 130 inside a /* */ block comment. Could someone please produce a plan of the motor racing hillclimb course for Goodwood Festival of Speed (the existing one is overly simple) as I cannot find an adequate one on Commons or Geograph and I'm not sure my drawing skills are up to it. It could be a much-simplified verson of this, or this. I'm familiar with the course, so could advise on detail if necessary. @Cmglee - Certainly, that would be great. If possible, the box between Park straight and Pheasantry on NW side of the track should be labelled "Goodwood House" which is its approximate position (though a little further back from the track). Can somebody recreate the map of Abemama on p. 99 for Karotu please? All of the villages are where they are presently and have the same names, except for Binoinano which is now Kariatebike. Don't worry about Kawan te Tua, but could you please include Tabontebike (another modern location) and Kenna (which is just the south end of the main chain of islands, after Kabangaki) — VORTEX3427 (Talk!) 06:18, 15 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
Aquilegia was recently promoted to FA and will run as Today's Featured Article on 1 August. As part of a literature review for another article, I realized that a recently published source had a map depicting global native range distribution of Aquilegia.
I would like that map replicated as an SVG. Unlike in the original, I would like it to only indicate the genus's distribution in a single color, rather than the different colors representing different species groups.
