Category:Emigrants from Austria-Hungary to Yugoslavia

Nominator's rationale: This is an incoherent category name, because Austria-Hungary was a country that ceased to exist as a prerequisite for the first iteration of Yugoslavia to exist. In other words, they were not contemporaneous, nobody could actually have emigrated from one to the other. It seems to include a handful of people who were born in the territory of Hungary during the time of Austria-Hungary and later lived in Yugoslavia. They're are already largely categorized as Serbs in Austria-Hungary and similar, so this weird category serves no obvious purpose. --Joy (talk) 09:37, 4 October 2026 (UTC)reply

Yeah. So let's go through the selection:
  • Miloš Crnjanski was born in Csongrad and lived in his youth in Pančevo, Timisoara, Rijeka, Vienna, Galician front, Italian front. Then the war ended - and therefore A-H was gone - and he went to study in Belgrade. He was not a "immigrant" of a kind that would make sense to the average reader - Pančevo is just across the river from Belgrade, and Rijeka was also part of Yugoslavia.
  • Nikola Dobrović was born in Pecs and lived in his youth in Budapest and Prague. Then the war ended, and he lived in Czechoslovakia until the early 1930s when he moved to Dubrovnik in Yugoslavia. So this would have to be some sort of a CS->YU migration category I guess.
  • Petar Dobrović was born in Pecs and lived in his youth in Budapest, Paris, back to Pecs and trying to support Yugoslav annexation, and when that failed he lived in Belgrade. So maybe a HU->YU categorization.
  • Slobodan Jovanović was born in Novi Sad and lived in his youth in Belgrade, Munich, Zürich, and Geneva, and then joined the Kingdom of Serbia's service way around 1893, so 25 years before there was Yugoslavia.
  • Milan Kašanin was born in Beli Manastir and lived in his youth in Novi Sad, Osijek, Mitrovica, Zagreb, Budapest, Zagreb, Novi Sad, Požega, Sarajevo, Zagreb, and then the war was finally over :) and he lived in Novi Sad, Paris, Belgrade...
  • Béla Linder was born in Majs and lived in Budapest until the end of the war, and then he was part of the same story as Dobrović it seems. He was the most actually "Hungarian" in the conventional sense, unlike everyone else.
  • Rudolf Maister was born in Kamnik and lived in Graz and then organized the annexation of Maribor to what would become Yugoslavia at the end of the war. He was the most actually "Austrian" in the conventional sense, unlike everyone else. At the same time, he was a Slovene nationalist :D
  • Emil Uzelac was born in Komarom but grew up near Karlovac, then in his youth lived in Vienna, Pula, Trieste, New York, Klagenfurt, then oversaw the entire A-H air force (all over the place?), and after the war ended he lived in Petrinja and then led the Yugoslav air force (all over the place again?).
  • Dušan Vuksan was born in Medak, lived in his youth in Zagreb, Bjelovar, then in 1910 moved to Cetinje in the Kingdom of Montenegro, and in 1913 to Peć in the Kingdom of Serbia. So maybe an A-H->ME category.

Nominator's rationale: Follow-up to Wikipedia:Categories for discussion/Log/2026 September 17#Category:Found footage films about psychopaths and sociopaths. These cats were created by the same user who created that one. As I stated there, apparently it wasn't filled with great care. Even ignoring that, I see a few issues. "sociopaths" and "sociopathy" are not present in the category system outside of these cats. The term redirects to Psychopathy#Sociopathy, and is considered outdated and overlapping with Psychopathy or Antisocial personality disorder.
Psychopathy is also not significantly present in the category system outside of these and Category:Psychopathy, Category:Psychopathy writers, Category:Psychopathy scales, Category:Books about psychopathy and Category:Psychopathy self-report inventories. So what determines inclusion here? Certainly there isn't a consistent diagnosis in fiction that we can realistically contain these categories to. I see these categories basically being used as "Films about crazy people". And probably most of the time being used in a way that overlaps with Films about murderers, Serial killer films and Films about torture. And with "sociopath" in the title, I can also see it being used to overlap with Films about borderline personality disorder and films with characters vaguely exhibiting antisocial behavior or narcissism. Or even overlapping as far as Films about obsessive–compulsive disorder or for films about paranoid types. That seems problematic and ultimately not a good categorization. What do we think? There are other names besides these three appliee to populated places in some jurisdictions. In the end this boils down to categorization by shared name not shared trait. This category would be fine if it contained articles specifically about green bans, but it doesn't contain a single one.
