Uplers is an AI hiring platform that helps startups and tech companies build engineering, product, and go-to-market teams in India. Uplers uses AI tools alongside human recruiters to screen and match candidates, ensuring quality, efficiency, and precision so startups can identify the right talent faster.[1] The company was formed in 2019 through the merger of three IT services companies, WebbyMonks, EmailMonks, and Octos, and subsequently pivoted to a product-led company focused on hiring. It is headquartered in Ahmedabad, India, and also maintains a presence in San Diego, USA.[2][3][4]
History
[edit]Uplers began operations in 2012, when an IT services company called Ensight was founded.[5] EmailMonks, WebbyMonks, and Octos were launched the following year, each focusing on a specific niche. In 2019, the three companies were merged to form Uplers.[5] Initially, the company operated as a digital marketing and technology services provider.[5]
The company's pivot toward recruitment was driven by founder Jaymin Bhuptani's experience running a marketing technology business, during which clients frequently asked for assistance in hiring engineering talent in India.[6] Jaymin identified what he described as a "discovery problem": a shortage of efficient systems to connect companies with suitable professionals, rather than a shortage of talent itself.[6] This observation led to Uplers, an AI hiring platform for startups.[7]
In 2024, Uplers was recognized as the Best Employer Brand at the LinkedIn Talent Awards in the Corporate Sector, 1,000–5,000 Employees category. The award celebrates organizations that redefine the way we all work.[8]
Services
[edit]As an AI hiring platform, Uplers enables startups and tech companies to hire across engineering, product, and go-to-market functions in India[9]. The company maintains a talent network of over 3.5 million professionals. The network includes a curated segment of top 1% talent, comprising graduates from top institutions such as the IITs, IIMs, and other leading Indian institutes, and professionals from leading global technology companies, including MAANG.[10]
Uplers' AI agents have been developed using more than five years of the company's startup hiring intelligence, enabling it to evaluate candidates against the specific requirements and context of each role. They support sourcing, filtering, candidate engagement, information verification, and screening, including assessing factors such as technical experience, logistics, and startup readiness. Recruiters continue to provide contextual judgment, define hiring criteria, and refine candidate evaluation based on client requirements and feedback.[11][12]
Uplers reports that it typically delivers three to five interview-ready candidate profiles within 48 hours of receiving role requirements. The company states that approximately 70% of shortlisted candidates progress to interviews. Uplers also offers contracting, payroll, compliance, and Employer of Record (EOR) services for India-based hires. The company provides a 90-day replacement guarantee for full-time roles.[13][14]
Operations
[edit]Uplers is led by Jaymin Bhuptani as co-founder and Chief Executive Officer, alongside Nital Shah as Co-Founder and Chief Operating Officer. The company has between 500 and 1,000 employees in India. The company serves startups at various stages of growth, from initial hires through Series A funding rounds and beyond. Uplers reports that it has helped more than 1000 startups build teams globally and facilitated over 5,000 engineering hires.[15]
