Trust Wallet is a multi‑chain, non‑custodial cryptocurrency wallet that allows users to store, send, receive, and manage digital assets across more than 100 blockchain networks. Available as a mobile app for iOS and Android and as a browser extension, the wallet supports decentralized finance (DeFi), NFTs, crypto staking, token swapping, and access to decentralized applications (dApps). The company reported more than 220 million users worldwide in 2026.[1][2] The wallet is non-custodial, meaning users retain full control of their private keys and seed phrases at all times.[3][4]
Acquired by Binance in 2018, Trust Wallet later became a separate company owned by Binance founder Changpeng Zhao.[5][2]
History
[edit]Trust Wallet was founded in 2017 by Ukrainian developer Viktor Radchenko, a software developer with a background in cybersecurity and mobile applications.[6][7][8] The wallet was initially developed for storing ERC-20 and ERC-223 tokens on the Ethereum blockchain.[7] As the cryptocurrency ecosystem grew, Trust Wallet added support for additional blockchains and digital assets, including Solana, NFTs, and allowed users to interact with decentralized applications.[9]
In July 2018, Binance acquired Trust Wallet in its first-ever acquisition.[10][11][8][6]
In 2022, Radchenko stepped down from his role to pursue other ventures.[6] Following his departure, Eowyn Chen was appointed CEO of Trust Wallet.[12]
Features
[edit]Trust Wallet supports more than 100 blockchain networks within a single application, including Ethereum, BNB Chain, Bitcoin, Solana, Polygon, Avalanche, Tron, and Cosmos.[13] The wallet provides in-app token swapping through third-party decentralized exchange (DEX) aggregators, and lets users buy cryptocurrency with fiat currency through third-party on-ramp partners such as MoonPay.[14][15] Users can also stake proof-of-stake assets directly within the app to earn rewards, and store and transfer NFTs across supported blockchains. In 2025, Trust Wallet introduced the Trust Wallet Agent Kit (TWAK), a toolkit enabling artificial intelligence agents to execute cryptocurrency transactions across multiple blockchains.[1][2]
Technology

[edit]Trust Wallet's cryptographic key management is built on Wallet Core, an open-source library released under the MIT License and maintained publicly on GitHub.[16] Wallet Core handles private key generation, transaction signing, and address derivation across supported blockchains.
Security model
[edit]Trust Wallet uses a non-custodial architecture in which private keys and seed phrases are generated and stored locally on the user's device and are never transmitted to Trust Wallet's servers.[17][18] The application supports biometric authentication and PIN-based access control. The Wallet Core library has undergone independent third-party security audits.[19]
Independent researchers have identified vulnerabilities in the wallet's key-generation process. A 2018 version of the iOS app used a pseudo-random number generator seeded from device timestamps to generate mnemonic phrases, a flaw catalogued as CVE-2024-23660 and exploited on-chain in July 2023.[20] Academic security research has documented widespread vulnerabilities across browser-based cryptocurrency wallet extensions as a class.[21][22] In December 2025, a compromised update to Trust Wallet's Chrome browser extension contained code that transmitted users' seed phrases to an external server. Confirmed losses from the incident totaled $7 million. Trust Wallet released a patched version, and Binance founder Changpeng Zhao stated that affected users would be compensated.[23]
