I made a couple of edits to keep in line with general MOS for talk header content warnings: I realise this is a similar appearance to the above suggestion, but this isn't tagging as a arbcom template, this is simply using the standardised format for a content warning, so I've removed the specialised background and no image paramaters. My understanding is that this is GG CTOP, thus it deserves a major warning not a minor notice. CNC (talk) 00:36, 17 January 2026 (UTC)Reply

Arguably this could be type=notice instead, but I suspect among these articles a warning rather than a notice is more sought after. Even if both provide the same output just with a different style. CNC (talk) 00:41, 17 January 2026 (UTC)Reply
@Mathglot it's OK I'll leave things be, if others want to ping projects or committees to discuss they are more than welcome to. I was just trying to bring it inline with other CTOP based notices like Template:BLPCRIME talk notice and Template:ECR, but if is opposition to that then understood. CTOP notices Tmbox appears to be using the old icon though, so might propose bringing that inline with Tmbox CTOP notices instead. Either way can see the argument/preference for having the lighter color/no icon, similar to other BLP notices. Maybe I'm also overestimating the importance of this notice, as if it's not intended as a major warning, then the colour scheme is more than adequate. Correction of MOS template

[edit]

Hello, I propose formulation improvement change of this template for Manual of Style for biographies, exactly part concerning biographies of non-living historical persons. Current text should be improved to be fully in accordance with Wikipedia:Manual of Style/Gender identity. Formulation there says: "Unless a living transgender or non-binary person was notable under a former name, the former name should not appear in any page." Current text is not fully in accordance with that. There is no justification to not to include original names in an encyclopedic article of a historical person, that is presented with reliable, neutral and independent source. Such birth names, name changes and evolution of a names according to marriages is commonly key information in written biographic encyclopedias for all historical individuals. Current part of this guideline should be applied only to the WP:BLPs as Manual of Style says. Sentence: "Former, pre-transition names may only be included if the person was notable while using the name; outside of the main biographical article, such names should only appear once, in a footnote or parentheses." should be corrected to: "Former, pre-transition names of living persons may only be included if the person was notable while using the name; outside of the main biographical article, such names should only appear once, in a footnote or parentheses." Thank you. ThecentreCZ (talk) 07:50, 8 June 2026 (UTC)Reply
