What links here
[edit]What links here lists pages that use Template:Under construction, since the template has a disclaimer that says you can replace this template with {{in use|5 minutes}}. Parameter 1
[edit]Hi! Perhaps the description of Parameter 1 could be changed to say that you put the time you will edit the article.
When I added 15+ minutes to 1, the message changed to This article is actively undergoing a major edit for 15+ minutes. instead of "for a little while." Robloxguest3 (talk)

WP:OWN issues with notice

A problem with this template's notice of "please do not edit it while this notice is displayed" is it's a thinly veiled instance of trying to WP:OWN an article or section, even if just temporarily. Could someone with template access please remove such text? Letting that remain unchanged just comes off as a way of enabling others exploit it as an excuse to discourage others from trying to improve pages, and we shouldn't let only one person think they're entitled to dominate editing there. User:SNUGGUMS, the purpose of this template basically *is* exactly what you are accusing it of - namely to allow one editor to broadcast to everybody else "I'm editing this article right now so please hold off editing until I'm done." This isn't problematic, it is intended. Why? Because the time period is so very brief, a couple of hours at most. Also, the template doesn't actually stop anything - the article remains just as open for editing as if the template wasn't there.
Q. Does this mean you "own" the article while this template is in place? A. No, not at all. You are just courteously asking everybody else to hold off editing the article while you complete a major edit. After (and during) this time, the article can be edited further - you don't "own" the article any more or less than if this template wasn't involved at all, meaning "not at all".
Q. Can't an editor just reapply the template over and over again to "own" the article? A. No. If you spot a case where another editor is using this template in a problematic manner, engage in content dispute resolution normally (WP:DR).

- It makes no sense to deny the blurb being problematic or an attempt to own after confirming my remarks of wanting to stop others from editing. Even temporary "just let me edit" notices are forms of discouraging helpful edits from other folks. People who invoke the template oftentimes appear to think they're allowed a free pass to single-handedly dominate contributions for who knows how long.
