Should be able to 'specify' whether the abbreviated form is enabled
[edit]There are a couple of awkward conditionals in the prose, especially because the reader can't be expected to know if [the abbreviated form is] "enabled" (or, indeed, required).
It would probably be better to either:
- Add a parameter to this template saying whether or not that form is enabled
- Enable it on all relevant templates and drop the conditional
Conversion from colon markup to Template:block indent
[edit]I converted improper list markup using colons to {{block indent}} after testing in the sandbox and on the testcases page. The appearance should remain virtually the same. – Jonesey95 (talk) 03:23, 28 February 2025 (UTC)
- Now it uses
{{unbulleted list}}and manual bullets. This is silly. It should use{{unordered list}}instead. The examples should not be separate items, they should be separated with a paragraph break, which template structuring allows. Hairy Dude (talk) 13:01, 24 June 2025 (UTC)- I didn't change anything related to that. Feel free to implement your proposed change in the sandbox and test it on the testcases page. – Jonesey95 (talk) 20:19, 27 June 2025 (UTC)

The list is using an incorrect formatting, faking bullet points using blue mdots, which isn't good for readablily, copy-pasting, visual clutter, and also it's inconsistent, because the bullet below the 2 blue "fake" ones is a proper bullet!
Link to sandbox (also fixed MOS:... and {{para}}) and edit which introduced the fake bullets. FaviFake (talk) 21:20, 23 August 2025 (UTC)

Template-protected edit request on 21 June 2026 - formatting

Use {{error}}, and don't format the error as <kbd>.
| − | | 4 = | + | | 4 = {{#if:{{{listnames|<noinclude>ForTheDemo</noinclude>}}}|<kbd style="border: none;">{{{listnames|<noinclude>{{hlist|foo|bar|baz}}</noinclude>}}}</kbd>|<includeonly>{{error|Required parameter "listnames" missing!}}</includeonly>}}

Thanks — W.andrea (talk) 16:48, 21 June 2026 (UTC)
- Is there consensus for making this dramatic change from gentle, small text to big, bold text? Most "missing/unknown parameter" messages, for example those used by {{Preview warning}}, that I see use regular-sized text. – Jonesey95 (talk) 17:22, 21 June 2026 (UTC)
- You could use {{error-small}} instead of {{error}}; it doesn't really matter to me as long as an actual error is emitted. — W.andrea (talk) 17:29, 21 June 2026 (UTC)
- I have implemented error-small. Thanks for this suggestion. I left the other formatting in place to emphasize that the red text is not intended template output. – Jonesey95 (talk) 18:12, 21 June 2026 (UTC)
