Template:Recent resignation/doc

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
This template is used to alert editors and readers of rapidly changing edits, it is not used to advertise or confirm the resignation itself.
This template is not to be used on newly created articles.

This template warns readers that the information presented in an article may not be the most up-to-date or accurate due to unconfirmed or inaccurately reported information about a recently announced resignation. Readers should therefore be cautious. This is generally true for all of our articles, but in cases of extraordinary public attention the risk of misinformation is elevated.

As such, this template should be used only in cases where many editors (perhaps dozens or more) are editing the article on the same day. It should be removed as soon as this editing subsides. Do not use it merely to tag the article of a person who has recently resigned, as that is not the template's purpose.

This template will add the article to Category:Recent resignations.

Usage

[edit]

Parameters

[edit]
  • The first (unnamed) parameter must be entered to sort biography articles by last name in Category:Recent resignations: {{recent resignation|Last name, First name}}
  • The named parameter multiple should be set to "yes" to render "subjects", "resignations", and "have", in the event of multiple resignations where pluralization is required: {{recent resignation|multiple=yes}}

Other checks to perform

[edit]

When using this template, check the article talk page and update any relevant WikiProject templates or maintenance templates to reflect the resignation where appropriate. Also check the body of the article, infoboxes and other templates, and the categories at the end of the article and make the appropriate changes.
