Usage

This template creates a citation, including external link, to the information page for a Quebec municipality at the Government of Quebec website. This website catalogs basic statistical information about each municipality in Quebec, including the name, population, surface area, administrative region, and regional county municipality (MRC).

(The name of this template reflects a previously used URL based on an earlier acronym of the ministry (Ministère des affaires municipales, des régions et de l’occupation du territoire). The acronym "mamh" (from Ministère des Affaires municipales et Habitation) can also be used).

Description of parameters

• first unnamed parameter: This is the geographic code, which can be:

  five-digit number, for a municipality

  three-digit number, for a regional county municipality (use with type=mrc)

  two-digit number, for an administrative region (use with type=region)

  five-character alphanumeric, for a borough (use with type=arrondissement)

To look it up:

1. Go to the Répertoire des municipalités page, and type the name of the municipality in the Municipalité: field, then click on the "Chercher" button. If successful, the resulting page will show the Code géographique.

Optional parameters

• text : The linked text. By default, this is "Répertoire des municipalités: Geographic code #####"

• type : Can be municipalite for a municipality (or omit, as this is the default); mrc for a regional county municipality; region for an administrative region; arrondissement for a borough.
