Template:ICD11/doc

This template creates a direct URL to an entity in the ICD-11 Browser when given an ICD-11 MMS code. The accompanying module converts this code to a Foundation entity ID, which is needed for the link.

For example:

https://icd.who.int/browse/latest-release/mms/en#753780243

The entity ID is in bold.

When the above URL is opened, it will automatically redirect to the latest version of the ICD-11 Browser, which is currently 2025-01. The /latest-release/ bit in the URL is automatically replaced with /2025-01/.

The template can take one or two parameters:

{{ICD11|ICD-11 code}}

{{ICD11|ICD-11 code|entity ID}}

• ICD-11 code = An ICD-11 MMS code
• entity ID = A WHO-FIC Foundation entity ID (optional)

Usage

For the disease pneumonia, the ICD-11 MMS code is CA40. Its Foundation entity ID is 142052508.

The URL to the Pneumonia entity in the ICD-11 Browser is:

https://icd.who.int/browse/latest-release/mms/en#142052508

Using the template:

Linking to higher levels

On occasion, it may be necessary or desirable to link to a level within the classification that is higher than a four-character code – such as category or chapter level. In such instances, the recommendation is to use the optional Foundation entity ID along with the title of the linked level.

Examples:

• Preferred method:
  • {{ICD11|Dementia|546689346}}, which displays as Dementia
• Less desirable options, but may take up less space within {{Medical resources}}, include:
  • Using only the common characters: {{ICD11|6D8|546689346}}, which would be parsed as 6D8
  • Using the common characters along with a non-alphanumeric "filler" character: {{ICD11|6D8-|546689346}}, which would give 6D8-
  • Using a code range {{ICD11|6D80–6D8Z|546689346}}, which would show as 6D80–6D8Z
