Usage
[edit]This template is a wrapper around the citation template {{Cite BDA1906}}. It places a prescript before the citation template to meet the requirements of the section "copying material from free sources" in the plagiarism guideline. this template must be used in place of {{Cite BDA1906}} if text is copied from an article in The Biographical Dictionary of America into a Wikipedia article.
This template uses two parameters:
noicon=any text— prevents the display of the leading icon (N.B, any text is usually either "1", "x", "y" or "yes").inline=any text– alter wording in the prescript from "This article..." to "One or more of the preceding sentences..." the latter is use if the template is used within a ref..tag pair as an inline citation (displayed as a footnote).

Common mistakes to avoid
[edit]This template sets & displays the year of (1906) by default, so there is no need to use either a date= or year= field. Adding either of those fields will cause a Category:CS1 maint: date and year error & display a "Script warning: One or more {{cite encyclopedia}} templates have maintenance messages" on the article it is used in.
When those errors occur in this circumstance they can be fixed by removing the redundant year=/date= field.
