The name of Yehoshua
[edit]As to the question of whether Yehoshua can refer Jesus or Yeshua, Jehoshua son of Nun is regularly transliterated as ιησους both in the NT and the Septuagint. The King James for this reason consistently translates Joshua as Jesus in the NT (see Heb.4.8). The names' meanings are identical, Jesus is merely a shortened version of Jehoshua, just as in Neh.8.17 Yeshua serves a s shortened name for Yehoshua son of Nun.Cpsoper (talk) 13:19, 27 July 2014 (UTC)
