Name Change
[edit]It's no longer called the Willis Tower. The naming rights expired and have not been renewed. 2601:249:1A80:22E0:AD4A:7D9B:652F:81E4 (talk) 20:29, 7 July 2025 (UTC)
Incorrect information under "Naming"
[edit]This is not accurate:
"In 2020, Aon bought Willis Towers Watson but retained the tower's naming-rights deal, which was set to expire in March 2025."
The AON deal did not happen and AON did not buy WTW. Many sources, but one is https://www.reuters.com/business/finance/aon-willis-towers-watson-call-off-30-bln-merger-2021-07-26/ http://kindgott.deviantart.com (talk) 14:52, 2 September 2025 (UTC)
- That appears to be the case. The Aon acquisition (and subsequent pullout) is already explained at the "Blackstone ownership" paragraph. I've removed the statement suggesting that Aon's acquisition was fait accompli. 162 etc. (talk) 16:31, 2 September 2025 (UTC)

Add on the in popular culture that the tower was also featured in the 2018 film rampage in which it collapses due to the attack of the mutated animals 189.164.121.73 (talk) 01:41, 3 September 2025 (UTC)
Not done: it's not clear what changes you want to be made. Please mention the specific changes in a "change X to Y" format and provide a reliable source if appropriate. veko. (user | talk | contribs) 01:48, 3 September 2025 (UTC)
- I think it's pretty obvious that 189.164.121.73 wants Rampage (2018 film) mentioned in Willis Tower § Cultural depictions, which already comprises a bunch of movie titles. Sources: , , , etc. Dgrilawidbanana (talk) 06:49, 1 February 2026 (UTC)
What next for article name?
[edit]The Willis naming rights deal expired in 2025 I think. So now, the official name Willis Tower is either just floating along on momentum (for a while) I guess, or maybe it has no name anymore, just a street address.
So when it gets renamed Minute Maid Tower or Palintir Tower or DRX Hedge Fund Holding Corp Tower or Charlie Kirk Tower whatever, what do we do then? Presumably, use of the Willis name will drop like a stone. Are we going to keep renaming the article every 15 years? Asking. Herostratus (talk) 23:17, 17 June 2026 (UTC)
- Wikipedia follows what reliable sources use. If a new COMMONNAME becomes predominant, the article title can be changed at that time. See WP:NAMECHANGES. 162 etc. (talk) 20:08, 22 June 2026 (UTC)
- But there is a COMMONAME: Sears Tower. But apparently we're not going to use that? So we will have to figure out another I guess? Herostratus (talk) 15:38, 24 June 2026 (UTC)
