Requested move 30 April 2026
[edit]- The following is a closed discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review after discussing it on the closer's talk page. No further edits should be made to this discussion.
The result of the move request was: moved. I'm considering this request uncontested, as the comment by User:Arnav Bhate makes no mention of the RM. (non-admin closure) Feeglgeef (talk) 22:31, 7 May 2026 (UTC)
IEEE 802.11bn → Wi-Fi 8 – Since Wi-Fi 6 the Wi-Fi X generation marketing name is most common. Almost every source refers to it by marketing name. WP:COMMONNAME supersedes WP:CONSISTENT. Mxdanger (talk) 21:48, 30 April 2026 (UTC)
- Support per COMMONNAME.--Ortizesp (talk) 13:55, 1 May 2026 (UTC)
- Comment: shouldn't this be clubbed with the Wi-Fi 7 RM? Also, I feel like it is too premature to have this article at all, let alone discuss its name. Arnav Bhate (talk • contribs) 19:04, 2 May 2026 (UTC)
- @Arnav Bhate Thanks for your comment. I'm not opposed to holding off on the move until the Wi-Fi Alliance makes it official. This requested move can be used as precedent to make the page move later. Mxdanger (talk) 02:12, 3 May 2026 (UTC)
