Year of the snake?

[edit]

Where is the reference for being a temple that is auspicious for those born in the year of the snake? This would have to do with a relic (real or replica) which is not clearly stated. There are other sources which claim that Wat Analayo Thipphayaram, Phayao Province, has a replica of Phra Maha Chedi Phra Phutthakhaya, a relic for people born in the Year of the Snake. The real one is located in India.

Is Wat Chet Yod really for year of the snake or is that some local rumor for whatever reason? ~2026-28943-92 (talk) 03:54, 26 May 2026 (UTC)Reply

The association of Wat Chet Yot with the year of the snake definitely comes from tourism-related sources, since in the old tradition, Lanna people believe that the pagoda for the year of the snake is the Mahabodhi Temple in India. I found some sources; for example, this page, https://www.mychiangmaitravel.com/wat-ched-yod, said that they pray to the replica pagoda in Chiang Mai instead of the real one in India due to the great distance.
