[edit]This article seems to have conflated two different retreat movements with similar titles. The first is Emmaus [1], which is a Catholic movement. The second is Walk to Emmaus [2], which is a United Methodist-related movement. Both are similar, in that they originated from the Cursillo movement of retreats, but their history, methods, governing structure and audiences are different. I am new to editing Wikipedia articles, so am hesitant to try to sort this thing out on my own. Any advice on how to proceed? Dmacdonaldonu (talk) 13:15, 11 January 2015 (UTC)Dmacdonaldonu
- Hmmm. Both are very obscure really. At the least the lead needs to cover the Catholics. Or move that to Emmaus retreats, or Emmaus (Catholic group). The biblical passage isn't really needed, & some might be added to the biblical article perhaps. Possibly Walk to Emmaus should redirect to the biblical episode, & then this moved to Walk to Emmaus (Methodist group) or whatever. Johnbod (talk) 14:33, 11 January 2015 (UTC)
1st line of History section doesn't jibe with the overview
[edit]I'm sure this is a detail of the issue already noted, but it makes the discussion so glaringly disjoint that it's hard to give credence to whatever follows.
To Dmacdonaldonu -- this whole wiki business is largely unmanaged. To answer you, I am new to editing Wikipedia articles, so am hesitant to try to sort this thing out on my own. Any advice on how to proceed?
Proceed with honesty and attention.
- Fix what is clearly wrong.
- Clarify what is most unclear.
- Attribute (cite sources) liberally.
- Defer issues of nuance until later.
