Ukrainian given names

[edit]

While it is true that many Ukrainian diminutive male names end in -o, this statement does not capture the full phenomenon. In reality, the diminutive ending is -ko, as in Mirko, Slawko, Iurko and all of the examples given in the article. For females, the equivalent is -ka, as in Helka, Slawka, Iulka.  Preceding unsigned comment added by Markcymru (talkcontribs) 19:21, 24 March 2023 (UTC)Reply

another common ending

Many Ukrainian names end with -enko, AFAIK --Baruch ben Alexander - ☠☢☣ 21:53, 16 April 2013 (UTC)Reply

Who decided these names are popular? I highly doubt that Arsen, Kazimir, or Paraskoviya are popular Ukrainian names. I am not even sure that they are Ukrainian names, ie., they do not belong here at all. Tne lede say "Ukrainian names are given names that originated in Ukraine" I can believe that the name Vladlen originated in Ukraine (as wll as in Russia and in Kazakhstan), but Viktor? David? --Altenmann >talk 14:21, 26 May 2026 (UTC)Reply
