Fabricated Slogan
[edit]The article currently makes the obviously absurd claim that
Citing this article. The reference, in addition to being a link to a blog post on Medium (Not a reliable source per WP:RSPS), appears to be some kind of personal essay from 2022:
“No sex, no sup, just tup tup tup!” he said, putting his hands up in despair. He said he made that up. I believed it.
It seems like this was originally inserted into the article by User:Sandcherry on July 1st of last year; when the slogan was deleted two and half months later, Sandcherry reverted the edit within a week with the comment "Unexplained deletion". In February of this year, User:Cuniiform added a better source needed tag with the comment "Tagged a suspicious citation I don’t have time to dive into". Having dived into the source myself, I feel confident that their suspicion was well-founded. However, When I deleted the fabricated slogan earlier today, the change was again immediately reverted, this time by User:RCSCott91 with the confusing comment that "Medium is a blog hosting service. Not a suitable source."
I don't know why it's been so difficult to correct this, but I think it's pretty clear that this slogan was made up by a blogger on Medium in the last couple years, and has no place in the early history of Tupperware. 2600:4040:2530:5700:A5D4:942E:34D9:99B2 (talk) 04:36, 15 April 2025 (UTC)
- I agree, but when I went to remove it, RCSCott91 had already reverted their edit, so all good. Schazjmd (talk) 21:24, 15 April 2025 (UTC)
- I'm think that I saw medium source, clicked on it, and made the mistake thinking that the edit was adding the unsuitable source under WP:MEDIUM as the author isn't a subject matter expert. The mistake was completely my own and I apologize for any frustration I caused you. RCSCott91 (talk) 21:38, 15 April 2025 (UTC)
The founding year
[edit]The first paragraph says it was founded in 1942, but the sidebar says it's founded in 1946. AccomplishedTale7 (talk) 03:48, 17 April 2025 (UTC)
