Meaning of "language gap"

[edit]

My impression of the term "language gap" generally and in usage in this article is that it is more similar to "language barrier" than "cultural divide." Granted language and culture differences often go together, but note the mention of translation in this article. "Language gap" is apparently used in more than one way. For example, Translators Without Borders uses it instead of "language barrier" (a good choice IMO). I believe it is also used to describe perceived differences in vocabulary development in children between those who have more access to reading and other learning at early ages and those who do not. However I don't see it as an alternative way of saying cultural divide.--A12n (talk) 00:57, 28 November 2015 (UTC)Reply
