Khawaja Shah Suleman Taunsvi, brought a peacock with him.in persian language peacock is called TAUS.So firstly it was named as TAUSA then became TAUNSA with the passage of time. When saint Khawaja Shah Suleman passed away word SHARIF was added to TAUNSA. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Bonjore (talk • contribs) 07:19, 2 June 2009 (UTC)

Taunsa Tehsil → Tonsa Tehsil – The spelling 'Tonsa' is more common than 'Taunsa' and is officially used by the government of Pakistan. Also WP:CONSISTENT with related articles like Tonsa city, Tonsa Barrage etc.. Jhumar Khosa (talk) 13:34, 20 September 2026 (UTC)

• Support, per WP:CONSISTENT. Makes no sense to call the city Tonsa but spell the state Taunsa.
