In the sentence: Stoddard has been linked to authors such as Eliot and Hawthorne, presumably Hawthorne is Nathaniel Hawthorne but does Eliot refer to George Eliot, T S Eliot or who?

Also, what does linked to mean in this context? Does it mean she knew them socially, was an influence on them, competed in the three-legged-race with them at the novelists' sports day? --Spondoolicks 22:40, 9 July 2006 (UTC)Reply
