The chess problem

[edit]

The chess problem used in this book is extremely similar to a problem by Raymond Smullyan appearing in The Chess Mysteries of Sherlock Holmes, with minor changes to fit the plot of the novel that, ironically, make the solution incorrect. Does anyone know anything about this -- particularly, whether Perez-Reverte acknowledged Smullyan in the Spanish original, or indeed, whether he had Smullyan's permission to use his problem? 91.105.43.68 13:05, 9 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Is the picture real?

[edit]

Guess it would be useful to know whether the picture does exist or not.
