Synopses
[edit]The "description" field of the episode table uses the BBC's programme descriptions verbatim. We should paraphrase and describe the episodes in wikivoice, with citations, and avoid emotive language. MIDI (talk) 14:08, 14 November 2025 (UTC)
Notability
[edit]The Big Cases is not sufficiently notable. Per WP:GNG, there is not sufficient non-trivial and independent coverage. Looking at the sources we have, they're generally either:
- primary sources (effectively links to the episodes)
- unrelated to the programme (they verify the events covered by the episodes)
- trivial mentions of the programme (they verify the programme exists, but that's it)
A quick razz through (ref numbering correct as of ):
- Primary source
- Is not a source for The Big Cases, but one of the topics covered by it.
- A passing (trivial) mention of The Big Cases, but is mostly about Panorama
- The Big Cases not discussed by source, however an episode is linked in its footer. Arguably a primary source as it’s BBC.
- Primary source on one of the episodes
- Is not a source for The Big Cases, but one of the topics covered by it.

- Much like #3, a passing (trivial) mention of The Big Cases, but is mostly about Panorama. Fails WP:GBNEWS anyway.

The bottom line is that we have sources to verify that The Big Cases exists and the events it documents occurred. But the programme itself isn't notable. MIDI (talk) 06:48, 9 July 2026 (UTC)
- Sorry but #7-9 do mention The Big Cases. A redirect and merge to True crime#Films and television can be considered, anyway.
