The climate data in the article comes from www.chinci.com. I have serious misgivings about this site being a suitable source. In fact the site copies Wikipedia articles – never a good sign – and creates the risk of citogenesis. At the bottom of the page there is a warning: "Important: Information about places and countries is in certain cases generated on approximation, do not use any information on this website for scientific or serious means."

I think it is very unlikely that there is a weather station at Taoudenni. There is no telephone, no electricity supply, no roads and no airport. The few people that live there are desperately poor – and there are serious security issues. I suspect the climate data comes from some form of computer modelling exercise – but I haven’t found the source.

When I look at the weather for Taoudenni on foreca.com the page tells me that the readings are actually for Bordj Badji Mokhtar – which is in southern Algeria near the border with Mali, 530 km to the ESE of Taoudenni. Bordj Mokhtar has a road and an airport and a weather station. However the climate data at www.chinci.com differs from that for Taoudenni.

The www.chinci.com "About" page acknowledges the Norwegian Meteorological Institute site but this doesn’t appear to provide climate data for Taoudenni . One can download free climate data (having registered) – which possibly includes the data used on www.chinci.com. Some of the site is in Norwegian and although at one point I read “yr.no offers free weather data in XML format for 7 million places around the world. As far as we know, this is the world's largest free weather service.” – I can only see weather stations listed that are located in Norway. Aa77zz (talk) 11:50, 6 December 2011 (UTC)Reply
