I believe that Nata also claims to have the oldest church in Panama....

public vs. exclusive private beach?

[edit]

My husband and I had a wonderful time hiking on the island, had a nice fish dinner and then went down to the ´public beach` on the island. Someone had followed us onto the beach, tried to set up a beach chair for us, and we proceeded to ignore him and walk to the other end of the beach, where he followed us. I gave him a hand signal to get lost as we sat on the and by the water. He then told us off in Spanish, and we just looked dumb-founded, and thought the harassment was all over.
  That was just the beginning.... We sat under a poor excuse for a shade hut and dragged in two chairs. A 17 year-old looking guy came over to us and said $10 USD to sit there. He had on no identification. We threw the chairs out of the shade and sat on the sand, and he walked away. He came back later like a bad rash and said, ¨$5 just for shade¨. We walked off down the beach and found our own shade under a tree.
  I don´t mind paying for admission to a beach, but they cannot ask for money for shade after you´re already sitting there. In addition to that, it was more the fact that they looked illegitimate, and likely were!!! This is really bad for tourism, and hopefully someone will look into this.
         (still angry about this) — Preceding unsigned comment added by 186.188.157.2 (talk) 00:35, 29 July 2011 (UTC)Reply
