Sylvia means "of the forest, or forest maiden"

Confusion with Silvia

[edit]

Note the following:

  1. There is another given name disambiguation page, named Silvia.
  2. Neither of the two pages links to the other.
  3. This page contains several people whose names are spelled Silvia rather than Sylvia.
  4. There is also a page Sylwia.

All this is too confusing. I'd recommend either a merge of the articles (possibly with different sections for different spellings), or that the articles stay separated, are provided with links to each others, and are kept consistent with their separate names; which inter alia would imply moving the instances of Silvia to the article Silvia. Proposed merge of Pseudoalcippe into Sylvia

[edit]

This genus appears to be defunct. Both species articles say they are in Sylvia. - UtherSRG (talk) 19:59, 29 November 2024 (UTC)Reply

Did you mean to place the merge tag on Sylviidae rather than on this dab page? —ShelfSkewed Talk 03:38, 11 December 2024 (UTC)Reply
@UtherSRG, @ShelfSkewed — it should be merged into Typical warbler, as that's where the genus Sylvia is covered - MPF (talk) 22:52, 10 February 2025 (UTC)Reply
@MPF and ShelfSkewed: I missed Shelf's note, but I got the notice from MPF. Yes, that's what I meant. I'll fix it. - UtherSRG (talk) 01:13, 11 February 2025 (UTC)Reply
@UtherSRG - thanks! - MPF (talk) 01:15, 11 February 2025 (UTC)Reply
