The definition should include sumsets that are not groups. For example, the collection of convex subsets is an Abelian semigroup with identify $\{0\}$ and with cancellation. Thanks for your note! Yeah, that's on purpose. The script purposefully requires a target because AfD is structured such that there's always one or more nominated article and one or more targets. Unlike PAM, we don't have a generic {{Merging}} tag that can be applied to both pages for afd closes. Recently, there was consensus both at TfD and later at XFDcloser's GitHub that closers should clearly define a target at AfD. (In the TfD case, a template that allowed closers not to pick a target was deleted.)

So yeah. You can state in your closure that there is no consensus on the target, but you still have to pick one when closing as merge, otherwise the article can't be correctly tagged and backlogged. FaviFake (talk) 20:44, 25 June 2026 (UTC)

Thanks, I'd missed that TfD discussion as I had some travel this spring. Noted going forward and will be clear about it being a temp target and not an admin decision. Well, the real reason is that nobody has ever thought about it until you did just now! It is odd that twinkle allows nominating for drafitification but XFDcloser doesn't support it. Personally though, I don't think it's really necessary. Draftifying an article should usually be done manually to avoid errors, and I don't think it's that common. But maybe I'm wrong? The only draftification closure I've ever witnessed is that of WP:Gratis versus libre. FaviFake (talk) 20:57, 25 June 2026 (UTC)

I'd say there's at least one or two per daily AfD log @FaviFake. But you're right, probably not enough to worry about it in terms of coding. It looks like they've fixed AfD closer so it doesn't show an error in the log, i.e. this when it used to not. The actual draftification is definitely manual with the help of a script, it was just amusing that the scripts didn't talk. Thanks again for all you've done/are doing with this evolving new process.
