Page protection

This isn't the only streaming-related article that is a target of spam and disruptive edits, and due to persistent vandalism it was protected on 11 May 2025. The protection was removed on 11 July 2025. Since then, there have been six instances where spam discovered at an early stage was removed. Additionally, many edits have needed to be reverted. For how long are editors expected to stay vigilant and available for whac-a-moling? Might it not be wiser to protect the article again? I can't remember which 'gadget' provides the option - possibly 'twinkle' - but it's easy to request protection via the 'tabs' along the top when you have it installed. If it's not twinkle i'll have to dig deeper.

Long hatnote

1. Do readers need to know that "Media streaming", "Streaming", and "Streamed" redirect here"? Can that be moved to a hidden comment as context for editors?
2. Is it likely that somebody could land on this article and have intended to go to DLNA? That set of standards doesn't seem to have a prominent alternate name like "Streaming media", and it's mentioned in the lead.
3. For the third note (This article is about streaming media in general. For streaming platform, see Over-the-top media service. For the music listening format specifically, see Music streaming service., Music streaming service is already prominently mentioned in the lead, so does it need to be in the hatnote? Could Over-the-top media service be in the lead instead of the hatnote as well?

I think it can be streamlined. I also don't see, nor have you identified, a specific problem with a lot of hatnote. Stream (disambiguation) should minimally be retained in a hatnote. ~Kvng (talk) 20:52, 7 September 2026 (UTC)

Oh good point, I didn't explain why I was asking! The issue is that on mobile web, long hatnotes take up a whole chunk of space before the reader can start reading the actual article. This needs more fundamental work (I need to write comments over at Readers/Reader Growth/Minimal Minerva), not just trimming individual hatnotes, but I noticed this one.
