Hey guys, I'm gathering information to expand this page. I was wondering if someone with a more advanced knowledge of coding than I have could edit the functionality section? Also, I apologize for completely forgetting about the view preview option, and accidentally publishing. Don't worry, I did a sandbox practice after that.

I need to read up more on this project, but the current wiki page says "The news organization should not record any information regarding the uploader, i.e., their IP address or information about the computer used, and the browser does not enable persistent cookies or allow third party embedding. Anonymity is not guaranteed, but the creators claim that the system is safer than electronic mail.[5]". As far as I can tell, the organization doesn't ever receive information regarding the uploader, due to the use of Tor, so they cannot record information regarding the uploader. Anonymity is guaranteed, inasmuch as Tor can do that. As I understand, that anonymity is the entire point of SecureDrop. Suspender guy (talk) 17:08, 28 February 2017 (UTC)Reply
I think that a diagram of the two-computer methodology would be useful; it would not be original research to graphically display the information currently in the article. The key technical issue which should be described is how anonymity and security is enhanced by the two-computer methodology; details of Tor Project anonymization would be deferred to that article. --User:Ceyockey (talk to me) 23:05, 18 June 2013 (UTC)Reply
I removed the sentence "Anonymity is not guaranteed, but the creators claim that the system is safer than electronic mail". The source only mentions "safer than email" as the original goal of the project, and is a non-technical article mostly about the author of the original software. While "safer than email" might be true, I think it's misleading in the same way that "safer than shouting from the rooftops" is. Suspender guy (talk) 01:54, 19 June 2018 (UTC)Reply
