At the end of History change "Republican" to "conservative-leaning". There is no such thing as a Republican state. ~2026-47073-61 (talk) 18:09, 30 August 2026 (UTC)Reply

"In 2021, Seattle was one of the first US cities affected by COVID-19.[154]" Should be corrected to 2020. Justin13922 (talk) 01:55, 10 September 2026 (UTC)Reply

Lushootseed name in Infobox

[edit]

I have Boldly removed the Lushootseed name from the infobox at the topic of the page. While I think that the Lushootseed name is certainly relevant to the article, I removed it for two reasons:

1. Template: Infobox settlement says that the native name box is for the Settlement name in the dominant local language(s), if different from the English name. Lushootseed is not a dominant language in Seattle.

2. This name is not used in any formal contexts by the City of Seattle. Horse.staple (talk) 06:35, 24 September 2026 (UTC)Reply

Please see the consensus here on inclusion of well-sourced Indigenous-language names in settlement infoboxes. TLDR It does not need to be official, and relevant minority languages can be included. See also the discussions Template talk:Infobox settlement/Archive 35#h-Native name parameter-20251211153100|here, here, and here. (talk) 15:51, 24 September 2026 (UTC)Reply
Apologies, I checked the archives to see if a consensus had been reached but admittedly didn’t go that far back. I disagree, mainly because I don’t think the Lushootseed name corresponds with the actual geographic boundaries of the city of Seattle (making its inclusion in Pioneer Square, Seattle more appropriate, but I respect the consensus nonetheless. In modern use, it does refer to the city of seattle (in several Coast Salish languages, actually). PersusjCP (talk) 00:46, 26 September 2026 (UTC)Reply
