Merging with SearX

[edit]

This article is pretty barebones. Given SearXNG is at this point a direct continuation of SearX, I suggest deleting this, renaming the SearX article to SearXNG, and discussing the at-one-point-parallel versions in a History section. Omentic (talk) 00:22, 24 August 2025 (UTC)Reply

French Wikipedia

[edit]

The French Wikipedia has an article on SearXNG, but it's pretty barebones: fr:SearXNG Benpiano800 (talk) 02:10, 20 June 2024 (UTC)Reply

Unfortunately I don't speak French so I can't improve that article myself. Benpiano800 (talk) 18:59, 14 September 2024 (UTC)Reply

SearXNG redirect listed at Wikipedia:Redirects for discussion

[edit]

Right now, SearXNG redirects to Searx#SearXNG fork. I listed the SearXNG redirect at Wikipedia:Redirects for discussion. Will wait for consensus to put this draft in place of the redirect. Benpiano800 (talk) 14:10, 25 June 2024 (UTC)Reply

i just created an account to say that the citations in this article (I.E "SearXNG supports over 70 different search engines.") are citing academic journals instead of the documentation. i know its better to get information from a secondary source most of the times on wikipedia, but for what the software actually does, it should be sourced from the documentation itself. also, the documentation itself says that "SearXNG supports 251 search engines of which 93 are enabled by default." i don't know if the article should stay at over 70, or maybe move it up to over 200 since hearing over 70 you would think 75, or 80 or even 90. I think that's a great use of a primary source - I made the change and took mention of it out of the lead until there's a more recent secondary source to confirm the number Superb Owl (talk) 14:45, 4 May 2026 (UTC)Reply
