The book excerpt I can see mentions Sunday Times (September 1954).

I tried to find it at the The Times archive but couldn't.

Maybe the Sunday Times is archived somewhere else.

Thank you, I really appreciate the links. I noticed Brenan also namedrops a David Garnett (who's quoting Topsell) and an A. Colin Cole; they are both said to be quoted in the same Times article.
