Sir Henry Russell, 1st Baronet
[edit]Suggest merging Sir Henry Russell, 1st Baronet here. No evidence that he meets WP:POLITICIAN or any other part of WP:BIO, or the WP:GNG.
His claim to notability is having been chief justice of Bengal, and it may be that more sources can be found to establish his notability, but so far there is no evidence of the required significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject. --BrownHairedGirl (talk) • (contribs) 14:14, 10 July 2010 (UTC)
- Oppose as a Privy Councillor, I believe he is notable, as well as Chief Justice of Bengal. Boleyn (talk) 16:27, 10 July 2010 (UTC)
- None of the guidelines offer presumed notability for a Privy Counsellor, or for judges. If the article is merged, it can of course be split out out again if and when there is evidence of notability per WP:GNG. --BrownHairedGirl (talk) • (contribs) 18:26, 10 July 2010 (UTC)
- Oppose -- The fact that he was given a baronetcy surely indicates that he was considered notable in his own time. Bengal was one of the three Presidencies of India, so that this was not a minor post. It is often difficult to judge the merits of an article while it is still a stub.
