The article almost entirely dails to mention its an international unit

and entirely fails to mention its politics. ~2026-28408-07 (talk) 19:41, 27 July 2026 (UTC)Reply

Unverified and BLP-sensitive paragraph on the Advanced company

[edit]

Disclosure: I have a conflict of interest: I am affiliated with the Revanche Tactical Group (see my user page). For that reason I am not removing this paragraph myself, and I am asking uninvolved editors to review it.

On 12 September 2026 a temporary account added the following to the History section (diff):

"In 2026, the Advanced Company of the Revenge Battalion was disbanded following acts of torture against members of the unit, which led to the death of a soldier. An investigation was opened by the Ukrainian justice system against Leanderson Paulino, the Brazilian commander of the unit, who disappeared in Kyiv while being hunted by his men."

The only citation is a paywalled Intelligence Online article (6 March 2026). I see four problems:

  1. Allegations stated as fact. The paragraph states in Wikipedia's voice that torture occurred and caused a death. The source's own summary says the units are accused / suspected (« accusées », « suspectées ») and that the HUR opened an investigation. Per WP:NPOV and WP:BLPCRIME these are allegations and cannot be stated as fact.
  2. "Disbanded". The free summary of the source does not mention disbandment, and neither does the Kyiv Independent investigation of 18 February 2026. A regional outlet reported on 13 September 2026 that the company took part in an operation near Stepnohirsk in August 2026.[1]
  3. Named individual. The paragraph names a living person as the subject of a criminal investigation and says he "disappeared … while being hunted by his men". The free summary of the source does not name him, and I am not aware of any charge or conviction. This falls under WP:BLPCRIME; I have raised it at WP:BLPN.
  4. Name of the unit. The unit is the Revanche Tactical Group, not "Revenge Battalion".

Request. Per WP:BURDEN, the responsibility lies with the editor who adds material. As the source is paywalled (WP:PAYWALL), I ask the editor who added it, or anyone with access, to quote the passages that support (a) the disbandment and (b) the statements about the named commander. If no quotation is provided within seven days, I request that the unverified statements be removed.

If editors consider that the allegations themselves belong in the article, I suggest limiting them to what the source's summary supports, attributed: "In March 2026, Intelligence Online reported that several units of the HUR's International Legion made up mainly of South American volunteers were suspected of mistreating their own members, and that the death of a recruit had led the HUR to open an investigation."

Thank you.
