Contested deletion
[edit]I contest the speedy deletion nomination. The current article is not exclusively promotional, nor would it require a fundamental rewrite to become encyclopedic. It is a sourced, chronological account that includes unfavorable as well as favorable developments. It contains no sales language, pricing, promotional claims, or calls to action.
Even if editors determine that some routine corporate information should be removed or condensed, substantial neutral and encyclopedic content will remain. This includes Rapyd’s role as the first Israeli company regulated in the United Arab Emirates following the Abraham Accords. This is a notable global milestone that received coverage from independent news organizations.
The article also provides context for several other Wikipedia articles. Rapyd has acquired companies with established Wikipedia pages, including PayU and Valitor, and is referenced by numerous other articles. A central article about Rapyd helps readers understand those companies’ subsequent ownership and corporate histories.
Rapyd also has established articles on the Hebrew and Norwegian editions of Wikipedia. I know that having articles in other languages, backlinks from other pages, and articles about companies acquired by Rapyd do not automatically establish notability. But they are proof that an article about Rapyd provides useful context within the encyclopedia. That’s why I have made a substantial effort to collect many reliable sources.
The argument for retaining the article is that it contains considerable, verifiable, neutral, and non-promotional material supported by independent publications. Its sources include major international, financial, regional, and technology news organizations, and the coverage concerns more than the company’s own announcements. It addresses Rapyd’s development, international regulatory significance, acquisitions, valuation changes, restructuring, and broader economic and cultural relationships.
I see now that some portions of the article can come off as promotional. I will revise it to remove non-encyclopedic details about funding rounds, offices, partnerships, products, and awards. Those portions can be removed or condensed. Their removal still leaves encyclopedic value.
Under WP, removable promotional or overly detailed material does not justify speedy deletion when substantial neutral and sourced content would remain. That can be addressed through cleanup, not the speedy deletion of the entire article.
I request that the G11 nomination be declined. I would be grateful for any suggested edits or recommendations that would make the article better, or for any direct contributions from another Wikipedia editor.
