Is it not worth mentioning the statement released in response to the appellant's question, "In what circumstances, if any, is a judge entitled to direct a jury to return a verdict of guilty?" - 'The Crown contests that view, while acknowledging that the circumstances in which such a direction may be given are rare and exceptional.
