Merge

[edit]

This article and the Polar Race both appear to be about the same thing. Most of the material is duplicated. Not sure which is the correct title. CambridgeBayWeather (Talk) 00:09, 12 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

Absolutely not

[edit]

These are two different events, run at different times, by different organisations. They have different websites: www.polarrace.com, www.polar-challenge.com.

If you read the details of the teams that have taken part in each, you will see that they are different. It would be misleading, confusing and unfair to merge these.

They are in fact rivals, and only a few days ago I removed a contentious statement from the Polar Challenge entry about the organisers of the Polar Race. I also added a line to the opening paragraph of each that they should not be confused with each other (which someone seems to have removed - I shall re-add them).

It may be helpful to include more than this line? A paragraph in each explaining that it is a different entry to the other? But they should not be merged - that would be like merging an entry on the New York Marathon with the entry on the London marathon because they looked similar.

URL to Website / Organizer

[edit]

The linked URL http://www.polar-challenge.com/ currently forwards to http://www.extremeworldraces.com/ which looks very much like a parked domain.

This is unrelated to my opinion that the two events (Polar Race/Polar Challenge) should be covered in separate articles. 80.152.240.115 (talk) 12:55, 26 November 2013 (UTC)Reply
