Symmetry question

Given that the way these turtles withdraw their necks into the shell is inherently asymmetrical (i.e., the head ends up skewed either to the left or the right), that raises a seemingly obvious question: do they display any sort of handedness? Is there any kind of asymmetry in their anatomy that would favor one orientation or the other, or do they just randomly choose between left or right each time they withdraw their heads? Does it vary depending on species (or individually)? It seems like there would be more written about this, but it seems surprisingly hard to find. 173.27.3.111 (talk) 04:59, 23 May 2025 (UTC)Reply
