Clean-up

Decline

One section should be decline. Besides fear of black congregation it should be included that whites viewed it in moral terms as well. For example an anonymous observer of Pinkster in 1803 described “blacks and a certain class of whites” in “a motley group of thousands” that evoked “to the eye of the moral observer, a kind of chaos of sin and folly, of misery and fun.” Whites used the festive behavior associated with the celebration to confirm bias against blacks and whites who participated were considered "lower." In Modern Times

The section on the modern resurrection of Pinkster festivities in America only gives one example (Philipsburg Manor House in Sleepy Hollow, New York) leaving out the Pinkster revival in Albany, NY. Albany was founded as a Dutch settlement in the early 1600's and with that heritage in mind the city holds its annual Pinksterfest in its Washington Park. It would seem a celebration in the State of New York's capital would be at least as significant as the single event referenced in the entry. The Pinksterfest in Albany is mentioned in Wikipedia in an article on the city's Tulip Festival which states that "The African-American tradition of Pinksterfest, whose origins are traced back even further to Dutch festivities, was later incorporated into the Tulip Fest."
