Letter from St. Peter

In AD 756, Pope Stephen II is supposed to have send a forged letter from St. Peter in Heaven to King Pepin, telling him to help against the Lombards, or forget about entering heaven. Is there any truth to the story? 73.70.250.164 (talk) 07:02, 10 December 2016 (UTC)

In the "top" section, Carloman is mentioned as being the older brother of Charlemagne:

"Succeeding his father as the Mayor of the Palace in 741, Pepin reigned over Francia jointly with his elder brother, Carloman. Pepin ruled in Neustria, Burgundy, and Provence, while his older brother Carloman established himself in Austrasia, Alemannia, and Thuringia."

whereas

In the "First Carolingian king" section, Carloman is 9 years younger than Charlemagne:

Origin of byname “the Short”

While readers might like to guess at why he was known as “the Short” it wouldn’t hurt to explicitly state the reason (if known).

Is he III or not?

I noticed this edit was reverted as "blatant vandalism", but I don't see anything to suggest that he's not III. Indeed, that shouldn't be thrown under the image randomly, but what's the reason for the absence of the III variant of his name on the page? ~2026-43477-07 (talk) 16:27, 7 August 2026 (UTC)
